The Secretariat Experience

Okay, I'm trying to catch up here.

Here's some pictures of one of our last home-school events.
A real neat gal who owns a farm opened up her farm for our home-school group to come visit. When I asked her about her farm she shared "I told God when I was a little girl that if He'd give me horses I would share with others". Years later He did, and so did she.
The boy's loved Paterson Ranch. They could have stayed for hours over the 2.5 hours that we were already there.

Can I tell you only weeks before the boy's and I had watched the "Secretariat" and Josh begged me to take him to ride a horse. And of course, living near the Horse Capital (Norco) of the world there was no one who would allow anyone under the age of 6 to ride a horse. So.....let me just tell you prayer works, cause within day's the Paterson Ranch field trip was listed on our Spring field trips and God knew my little Joshy wanted just one ride on a horse, and did he ever!

The boy's were able to groom the horses and learn about all the chores associated with having a horse. (Thankfully they never asked for one after that event.)

Talk about a Horse Brush!
After about two strokes Kaleb was over it. It was "Too much work"

Joshy was more than friendly with the horses and ponies, he made ME nervous!

And the riding begins.......
It was a beautiful day!

Ok, for all you animal activists. Please don't be offended by the following.
Mrs. Paterson has a miniature pony named "Goldie". She goes to Birthday parties and fun events and she just so happens to be white. She's a real docile creature and the kids got a kick out of being able to color her with water color markers. We also braided and put ribbons in her hair....and not one complaint. The kids LOVED it!

I wonder if she knew what was to come....

The boy's groomed her
Then came the markers!
She really is miniature....poor creature.
As if that wasn't enough humility! Then she had to cart around our children all around the neighborhood. Interestingly enough, this little thing could have trotted around the neighborhood a good four hours before getting tired. The boy's really enjoyed their time.

Joshy wanted another ride on the BIG horse this time!

One handed here.

Such a big animal and small boy.

He loved his "Secretariat" experience!

Thank you Lord Jesus for hearing the desire of a three year old heart and letting his little dream of riding a real horse come true.
