Pine Wood Derby Champion

If you have boy's, Pine Wood Derby is an experience any family member would love to witness them have.
K's Cub Scout pack just had their Pine Wood Derby race and the boy's were excited to be involved. This was an extra fun event because J was able to race even though he wasn't a cub scout. It really was just more preparation for when J joins in next year. The boy's (John) created these from just a block of wood.
John hand carved each of these for the boys. The boy's then painted and stickered up the cars just the way they wanted. This was probably their favorite part. They were very proud of their final products.

Then race day came. I don't think the boy's really had any idea on what to expect. They knew about a race but they didn't realize how incredibly fun it would be, and the overwhelming feeling of winning (or losing) in such a big event. We arrived a little early so the boys got to do some trial runs. John is an amazing dad. He worked hard with the boys to get these cars race ready.

J started making all sorts of modifications to his car when we arrived. John and K realized their cars would move faster with more weight, so the boy's added weight. John was so prepared in bringing all his equipment to make all the necessary modifications before race time.
This older Cub scout (picture above) kept asking to race K's car because he lost a few times against him.
 These were all the participants.
This is one of K's fellow cub scout who ended up being his opponent.  After weighing the cars, they had to be less than fie ounces, and after making all the needed adjustments the race began!

I love this shot. The boy's are anxiously waiting down at the finish line to see who wins.
Den Final Race
Final Pack Race
This was our winner!! K came in 1st place and was champion over the entire pack! My boy's hard work definitely paid off.
And we had our faithful cheering squad....
Mom and Dad never fail in being great supporters in all that we do. Rain or shine, they're always there to cheer us on and we are so very thankful.
I love this man more than words can describe. I am so proud of him and all the hard work he put into making these boy's have such a great experience, and for K, an unforgettable one.

In the end, K and J wanted to race one another and they did.  I love this final picture. K's face and J's blurr (because he was jumping) and their little friend Wyatt in the background. This is such a candid moment of boys anticipating seconds of a race.
Super proud of my boys in their races, and my champion!
